Good Shepherd Church of Naperville, Ill. a family-oriented Christian church with roots in the Lutheran tradition was looking to enhance their ministry with a renovation of their Sanctuary and an addition to their Worship center. They turned to the Aspen Group a leading Midwest design/build firm specializing in growing churches.
Through collaboration with Aspen Group, it was decided that instead of building a huge sanctuary that would hold everyone, Good Shepherd would pursue other options that would allow them to connect with a wider range of the local community. Before the building project began, the church started offering two options for services: traditional services in the sanctuary to appeal to the baby boomer generation, and an edgier, alternative service geared toward the 20-something crowd in the gym/activity center. To continue on this path it was decided a two-phase building expansion and renovation was needed.
